APRIL FOOL!!!

This year we are NOT doing any foolin' on the radio April 1st ... We did our best April Fool's Gag a few year ago and we are leaving it at that. Did you miss it? Basically we came on the radio and said the show MUST now be called "Alexander and Renee" (our middle names) since another "Doug & Kim" had legal rights to that name. The web site we used is still active - catch up on the joke at http://www.alexanderandrenee.com/

I really like this show!

Have you seen the new show on CBS - "Undercover Boss"? The idea is that the top dog at a big company goes undercover. While he works along side those lower on the ladder than he, it's a chance to learn about and improve his company and (sometimes) his employee's lives. I've seen most of the episodes and I have to say - I really like this show! It's another reminder that we all need to see each other as people. At the end of the episode, the workers get to see the CEO as a person, not some unknown rich guy that makes decisions they might not like. By the same token, the top dog gets down and dirty with the real people that keep his company working (and the real stories behind them). I'll admit it - I usually shed a tear or two by the time the show is over.

Our challenge today? To see each other as people, not as obstacles, not as things that stand it our way. We need to see others as Christ sees them - Dear, sweet, kind people that He made and loves and that we need to love in return.

Oh Baby!!!

Somebody please pinch me! God has blessed our family with the most wonderful gift of a beautiful baby on the way. Our sweet arrival is due the first of Sept. The past three months have been spent dealing with morning sickness and combating fear. Our miscarriage over a year ago weighed heavy on our hearts as we soaked in the thought of this beautiful news. God knows our needs and speaks to us through His word, The Holy Spirit and those around us who love Him and He used all three to bring peace to our hearts. Russell and I know that it’s all in His hands and no matter what…..no matter what…HE IS FAITHFUL!!!! The funny part about all of this is in many ways Russell and I are starting over as all of our children are off in college. We had a chance to check out Baby’s R Us and quickly realized that a lot has changed in 19 years!! Ha ha Thanks for all your prayers as we thank God for this great blessing and trust Him in the journey!

The Power of Forgiveness

Have you ever been hurt? Victimized? In this fallen world we have all been subject to evil from someone - each of us to different degrees. Did you hear our interview with holocaust survivor Eva Kor? What a powerful message of forgiveness! Eva survived a Nazi death camp and later in life learned the power of forgiveness. She says it's the only power a victim has - a power that NO ONE can take away - a power that has given her huge freedom. If you missed the interview, please visit the "Interviews" section of our web site and listen.

Eva's latest book "Surviving the Angel of Death" is written for young readers - middle school/jr high. It's very powerful and an easy read for them about a difficult subject. This year marks the 65th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz, and we must make sure to never forget the lessons of the holocaust - and also be reminded from Eva about the power of forgiveness.

Smooth as Ice!

Hard to believe how fast the 2010 Winter Games came and went, but if you need a little ice-skating “fix” we’ve got just what you are looking for. On Monday, March 8, BIO Channel presents the two-hour special, “Scott Hamilton: Return to the Ice” chronicling the Gold Medal Olympian’s return to skating after beating a life-threatening brain tumor. The special chronicles the 51 year old as he trains harder than ever before to make a comeback, and culminates with his first public performance on the ice in five years, at his 10th annual cancer-fundraising skating show, "An Evening with Scott Hamilton and Friends."

Spring please don't be shy!

I am pretty sure most of us are ready for a change of season. Winter has seemed so long this year!! The season change from winter to spring has always seemed to me to be the most dramatic of changes - think of it, the most tender grass and fragile flowers come from a heavy cold coat of winter white. That picture stands as a beautiful reminder to us that when we find ourselves in the winter seasons of our life, to take courage and know that God has new joys and new beginnings just below the surface just waiting to bloom!
Remember God holds you through every season – not to hurt you but to help grow.
