Don't Miss Steven Curtis Chapman on Tuesday

Did you know that November is "Adoption Awareness Month"? And no one has a bigger heart for adoption than Steven Curtis Chapman. Be listening this Tuesday - November 3rd from 7-8:30am/central as Steven joins us on the morning show for a LIVE in-studio visit. We'll be talking about adoption and a very special "Orphan Sunday" event that he is involved with on November 8th. November 3rd is also the day his latest CD ("Beauty Will Rise") comes out. We'll be hearing new music from the CD and special stories about some songs that were very painful to write following the loss of Maria. A song that hits me over the head!!

One of my favorite songs these days is NeedToBreath’s- Lay ‘Em Down. It stirs up in my mind a group of railroad workers from days gone by working hard with their sledge hammers nailing down each rail road tie. I think that is how we look to God sometimes – working so hard to deal with our problems –just swinging away at it. He wants so badly for us to cry out to Him for help! In our own strength we are not strong enough to carry the weight of these burdens- only God can deal with it, BUT we have to lay it down!!

Our 1st Wedding Anniversary

Wow!!! Hard to believe Russell and I will celebrate our 1st Wedding Anniversary this Sunday!!! Russell is truly a beautiful God given gift to me. He loves and supports me so well and allows me to do the same for him. We are a great match for helping each other walk through the hard times and celebrate the good times. Looking back over the year it’s hard to believe some of the heartache we have had to walk through, especially miscarrying in January. God has strengthened us as a couple and has shown us over and over again that He is for us!!! Happy Anniversary my sweet husband!! Hand in hand walking out God’s plan!! You are my North!!

Apologetix has a NEW CD!

Here's another great CD to check out - "Recovery" from Apologetix - "That Christian Parody Band". Lead singer J. Jackson feels it's the best they have done so far, and they have done some awesome music. I've heard this CD and agree - it's some of their best work!!

If you're not familiar with Apolgetix you need to check out their website.

http://www.apologetix.com/ The group takes mainstream music and changes the words to glory Christ and teach us more about His word. During the Christmas season we play "Hotel Can't Afford Ya" (parody of Hotel California by the Eagles) A song about the birth of Christ and how there was "no room at the inn". Also "Oh What a Night - Late December 5 or 6 BC".

This latest CD features new takes on classic rock songs from Kansas, Queen, Styx, Toto, Cheap Trick, KISS and Journey. Check it out!

It's Fall!!!!

If you have listened to Your Family Friendly Morning Show long enough, you know that I am a big fan of FALL!!!! It’s one of my favorite times of the year. Most of my family celebrates their Birthday this time of year and I can remember some very fun excursions to celebrate. We would take rides to see the beauty and color of the leaves changing and on our way; we would stop off at this wonderful apple orchard that had apples the size of grapefruit! It was fabulous!!! My favorite thing to do with some of those apples was wrap them in these flat pieces of caramel and make caramel apples!! Another thing I love to do during this season, is hide in a big pile of leaves and then jump out and scare someone who wasn’t quite expecting me to be there. Hee hee I know, I am a mess, but this whole season turns me into a little kid. Feel that crisp air? Wrap yourself up in a warm blanket and take in this beautiful change of season!

Lord - Save us from your followers!

Kim and I recently got a 'sneak peak' of a new movie - "Lord, Save Us from Your Followers" -

We were both challenged by Dan Merchant, the film maker and think that this film is worth watching. It WILL be a conversation starter and it WILL challenge us to step out of our box of Christian judgement and remind us that Christ calls us to love - Everyone! The film is out now in selected areas and Dan also has a book version ... Please visit the film's web site to find out more ... www.LordSaveUsTheMovie.com

Here's a brief plug to whet your appetite for more:

Nine out of ten Americans claim a belief in God. However, public expressions of faith stir more controversy and increase the ever-growing cultural divide in our society every day. Has this country lost the art of conversation? Dan Merchant had to do something; desperate times call for desperate measures. A follower of Jesus himself, Merchant became fed up with the strident, divisive posturing that has come to represent the Christian faith and set out through his documentary film, Lord, Save Us From Your Followers, to discover why the “Gospel of Love” is dividing America. In the tradition of entertaining documentaries like Super Size Me, and Bowling for Columbine - Lord, Save Us From Your Followers employs the language of pop culture to create a provocative, funny, and redemptive film-going experience.
